The sample is the point

A carton is the only piece of print that has to work as an object. It has to fold without cracking, hold the pack without bulging, stack without collapsing and open the way the customer expects. None of that is visible in a PDF, which is why we send a structural sample before a volume run rather than after it.

The second thing that decides a carton is the board, and the board decision is usually made for the wrong reason. Heavier is not automatically better - it can crack at the crease and add freight cost for nothing. We would rather specify board against the fill weight, the stacking height and the transport than against a number somebody quoted last year.

For chemical and agri-input packs there is a third layer: the outer carton carries handling marks and batch panels that have to survive a warehouse, and the mono carton has to match the label on the bottle inside it. Both come off the same press here, so they match by construction.

What we produce

What this covers

Mono cartons

Primary retail cartons printed, laminated and die-cut to your dieline, matched to the label on the pack inside.

Bulk runs

Outer and shipper cartons

Secondary packaging with handling marks, batch panels and identification that stays legible through the supply chain.

Bulk runs

Structural samples

A physical, folded sample of the actual carton before the volume run is committed.

Before every new run

Lamination and finishing

Gloss, matt and specialty laminations, spot UV and foiling where the pack calls for it.

Per specification

Board specification

Chosen against fill weight, stacking and transport rather than against habit.

Specified per job

Repeat-run matching

Files and specifications held, and colour matched against a retained sample so a reprint matches the shelf.

On file

How it runs

From brief to delivery

  1. 1

Send the dieline or the pack

A dieline if you have one, or the existing carton if you do not. We will work back to a dieline from a physical sample.

  2. 2

    Board and finish specified

Recommended against the fill, the stacking and the transport, with the reasoning explained rather than asserted.

  3. 3

    Structural sample

A folded sample in your hands. This is where problems are cheap to fix.

  4. 4

    Print, die-cut and deliver

Printed, laminated, die-cut and glued in-house, then dispatched flat or made up as you need it.

Questions

Common questions

Will you send a sample before the full run?

Yes - a structural sample of the actual carton, folded. It is the only way to find a crease or fit problem while it still costs a sample rather than a run.

We do not have a dieline. Can you still quote?

Send the existing carton. We will work back to a dieline from the physical pack, which is more reliable than reconstructing one from measurements.

Can you match the carton to the label on the bottle?

Yes, and both should be printed together for that reason. Colour matched across the two is much harder if they come from different presses.

Which board should we use?

That depends on fill weight, stack height and how the carton travels. We will recommend one and explain why, and we will say so if a heavier board is only adding cost.

What quantities do you run?

Bulk and wholesale. Tell us the quantity you are planning and we will confirm whether it is a run we can take.

Do you supply flat or made up?

Either. Flat is cheaper to ship and store; made up saves time at your pack line. Tell us which matters more.

Tell us the job and the quantity

Bulk quotes come back within 24 working hours, priced for your run and the next slab up. Campaign briefs get a call first.
